I am pursuing a degree in psychology from Arizona State University. As a student I have been given opportunities to teach. In my capacity as a teaching assistant for a basic psychology course I worked with nearly 500 students, created study guides and exams, and tutored individual students. While I enjoy tutoring a wide variety of subject areas, psychology is my favorite. Some of the courses I offer tutoring sessions for include algebra 1 & 2, geometry, elementary math, middle school math, psychology, algebra 3/4, math, and social sciences. I believe my background in psychological studies has helped me tremendously with the students I tutor. I know that each student learns differently, and I love the challenge of discovering what learning style each of my students has and how I can develop study materials that will help them most effectively reach their academic goals. One of the tactics that has been particularly successful for me as a tutor has been encouraging my students to take the information they master with me and then teach it to someone else; a friend, family member, or classmate. This helps to solidify the information in their own mind and their retention and true understanding of the concepts improves exponentially.
